The Anyikam Brothers Need Your Support!
Ndukaku and Chijindu are two incredible young men on a mission to compete at the 2024 AAU National Taekwondo Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, representing HC Taekwondo Pearland!
A Journey of Dedication
These boys haven’t gotten here by chance. They dedicate an impressive 6 hours a week to Taekwondo training, all while maintaining all A’s in school and participating in soccer! Their hard work has paid off, earning them both gold medals as Regional 9 US Champions and champions at Intermediate Olympic Sparring in their respective divisions.
The boy have competed in several city, state, and regional tournaments:
- 2023 Houston Open Taekwondo City Championship
- 1st Place – Ndukaku Anyikam (8-9 y/o)
- 1st Place – Chijindu Anyikam (7-8 y/o)
- 2024 AAU Region 9 Taekwondo Regional Championship
- 2nd Place – Ndukaku Anyikam (8-9 y/o)
- 2024 Texas World Class Taekwondo Championship
- 1st Place – Ndukaku Anyikam (8-9 y/o)
- 2nd Place – Chijindu Anyikam (7-8 y/o)
- 2024 AAU Gulf District Region 9 Taekwondo Regional Championship
- 1st Place – Ndukaku Anyikam (8-9 y/o)
- 1st Place – Chijindu Anyikam (7-8 y/o)
The Challenge of Nationals
Qualifying for Nationals is a huge accomplishment, but the journey doesn’t end there. The cost of competing at Nationals includes:
- Entrance fees
- Plane tickets
- Lodging
- Coaching fees
- Required new equipment (colored headgear, etc.)

Almost Ready to Go
This was our last week of training and it was SUPER intense. We were able to get a bunch of new equipment, gear, and brand new national dobak’s (our Taekwondo outfits) thanks to our parents and every one of our supporters! The journey is never over so we will continue to fight on. Tomorrow, we travel to Fort Lauderdale, FL to get ready.
We weigh in on Wednesday, rest and then on Thursday, we have our big fight!

Training Boot Camp is Under Way
Hey Team Anyikam,I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to tell you about how our training is going. It’s super hard! We’ve been doing two practices a day, and it’s really intense. We do lots of cardio to get faster, strength training to get stronger, and lots of skills practice, too. Sometimes, it’s really painful and I get super tired, but I know it’s helping me get ready for the big championship in Florida. It’s making me stronger both in my body and in my mind.
I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us. Your help means so much to me, and I wouldn’t be able to do this without you. And for my friends who couldn’t help with money, I want you to know that I’m really thankful for your cheers and good wishes too. Every kind of support you give us really helps and makes me happy.
Thanks again for helping me follow my dreams to the national championship. We’re working really hard and can’t wait to make you all proud in Florida!
